  • Faint red fruits, cherry and cranberry with a hint of mirabelle plum. Moderately powerful nose with mushroom, cedar, and chocolate. Medium body, medium plus acidity and smooth integrated tannins. Balanced wine, classic California without the overly jammy or overripe fruit. Moderately long finish. Decanted and drank for Katie’s 29th bday at Le Bouchon along with Laherte Frere blanc de blanc brut nature wich paired well with our meal (caesar and an apple salad, fried brandade as well as steak frites au poivre). Overall, a very good wine, if lacking a bit in the fruit department. Wouldn’t expect this wine to last much longer in the cellar.

  • Can’t really score it as the wine is clearly over the hill. The fruit has almost entirely faded leaving a somewhat thin base. A bit unpleasant to drink on its own, perhaps, but with food it tasted fine.
Decanting for a day brought out the “sour” cherry notes. Still great with food.

  • Nicely mature cab past its peak but still nice. Very funky, sweaty nose that you have to blow off to enjoy the wine. Fairly balanced although the acidity peaks through on the finish. Not a long finish though. Some tobacco, vanilla cappuccino and cedar on the palate. Plum and dark cherry fruit.

  • Bright ruby color, which was a bit surprising for a Cab of this vintage. Modest bricking. Loads of sweet red fruit on the nose. Very little decanting time needed, but also very little sediment. On the palate this wine was an explosion of sour but very ripe red and black cherries with an acidity that gave the wine a tangy element and best with food. There was plenty, but not too much Oak. The element that was throwing me off was an underlying Eucalyptus. It provided a very interesting element in this instance that I'm not sure everyone will appreciate. Definitely one of the more interesting wines I've had in a while.
