4th Saturday Brown Bagger (EBCC): Blind. Opens with mint and funky brettanomyces notes. With air some red berry fruit begins to emerge but the brett/barnyard is the dominant note. Medium-bodied with integrated tannins and flavors of red fruit. Had hoped for a little more from this considering the vintage.

Tonight this showed best of the tasting opposite a 1990 Silver Oak Napa: Bright garnet colored, medium full bodied, full forward vibrant red berry and cherry fruits accented by tangy spice, tea, hints of cedar and notes of cigar box with moderate tannins on a long lingering finish.
Mushrooms, roasted red bell pepper, herbal notes, scorched earth and spice, with some red red fruit. Decent structure with smooth tannins and a bittersweet finish.

We recently did Bosche vertical of 1990, 1994 and 1998. Thought we were drinking straight cab and not Bosche vineyard. Wine smelled amazing and kept getting better after decanting.

Simply beautiful wine. When they say "old school" this is the stuff they're talking about. Ripe but not overripe, great fruit but not a bomb, structured but not coarse. Very modest alcohol but very generous flavor, tone, and finish.
