This greatly exceeded expectations, particularly given that the CellarTracker drinking window "expired" 11 years ago. A tribute to the longevity of Freemark's and winemaker Ted Edwards offerings and proper cellaring. Wine buddy Rick M and I have traded bottles of this back and forth over the years from extensive cellars going back into the '80's and such was the case here. This was a deep garnet color in the glass. Still full of fruit...cherry, plum, cassis augmented by an earthiness reminiscent of forest floor and a touch of eucalyptus on a medium finish. This tasted just like I would expect a well aged cabernet to taste. Is this past peak, yes, a bit. But still a great bottle of wine showing layers of complexity. Nice work!

Still vibrant with life left, while nearing the end of its drinking window this still has a few years left and shows only slight signs of diminution with the fruit starting to give way to earthy leather tones. Dark garnet colored and medium bodied yet with distinctive 'legs' (or 'curtains' as my British friends call them), this exhibited polished and balanced concentrated black berry fruits with layer of spice, hint of smoke, earthy leather, tobacco and spice box on a moderate smooth, integrated moderate tannin finish.

Nice. I get some soy but this wine has much life left. Just not my favorite style.
