Wine in the Sunshine State; 2/20/2020-2/23/2020 (Florida): In retrospect we should have decanted. This was drinking really well at the end of the night with a lot more air, but it definitely needed the air. Started musty and reminded me of a third tier aged Bordeaux (not necessarily a bad thing, but it didn't stand out). With more air the mustiness went away and it got a lot more life to it. Fruit started to come through as well. Enjoyed. If we find more old ones of these we'll be snapping them up.

Dark brown hues on brick red base. Cork was quite soft with some bleeding so I was very pleasantly surprised to find the palate had soft but gripping tannins with cedar and dark berries. Still showing great elegant fruit and long length.

Still really young. Very bordelais in style with the exception of some coconuty American oak.

Yarra Yering Dry Red No. 1 - The Complete Vertical 1975 to 2006 (The Ledbury, London): More old style with its pepper and pong, light and fresh at first, it grew deeper and richer in the glass
