Decided it was time to check in again. Has balanced out. Tatse profile has integrated but it still has a way to go. I want so much more out of this wine but it's still not delivering. Let's see what the next bottle brings in a couple of years.
Steak and twice baked potato dinner. BRITT makes the best potatos. I cooked the steaks. All delicious.

Should have read previous notes. Decanted a couple of hours. ugh.
Deep, rich, dark burgundy, full bodied wine Pencil lead, some dark stewed fruit, garden vines Somewhat abrasive. Medium finish. Tastes like the nose. Metallic notes. Cigar box. Reminds me of Palmer BDX. A decent wine but not my style. High QPR (-1pt)

Loved the nose, a mix between mature Bordeaux and that typical eucalyptus Aussie touch Palate was not as exciting with not enough fruit and structure to compensate the overwhelming green pepper aromas
Overall still a well made pleasant wine (especially considering the vintage) but wouldn't buy again at such expensive price
Agree with previous reviews, do not decant

Grapenomad's tasting note is pretty much spot on. 2011 was a terrible year for the Yarra, but the team at YY have made a simply outstanding wine. Great structure, well integrated cabernet and good red fruits. I personally would also suggest popping and pouring - don't decant this one lest you get more cabernet coming through.
