  • From a magnum on my birthday. Good condition and fill with no signs of seepage. I opened this and took a deep whiff of magnificent smoke and berries. I was very excited at this point, but after about ten minutes of air this beauty wilted. Still drinkable with lots of smoke, spice, and a decent amount of fruit, but I had trouble getting past the notes of blue cheese which indicated that this was partially spoiled. I have had this once before and this was simply not the same wine.

  • This was still kicking. A bit disjointed out of the bottle, but it settled nicely after 1.5-2 hours of air. Nice sweet cherry and dark fruit flavors with a bit of spice. Some alcohol and tannins were still apparent here and it could have been slightly more balanced. However, this had a great tart finish. Very surprising, pleasant showing.

  • Compared against a 79 Pichon Lalande and with some surprise this one was the clear winner. Concentrated deep dark fruit with a very strong bouquet of dried dark cherry earth and black spice. Very fun to drink and will likely last few years longer.
