  • Records not handy. Recall buying 6b at a Chicago live auction 20-21 years ago--perhaps 20/b after buyer's premium; this is #2. Decanted, somewhat light sediment for its age. Dark ruby, no hint of amber; prominent redcurrant nose; red fruits, good mouthfeel. Tasty but short of delicious, though glad that it's still this good after 34 years. Glad I have more. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

  • Color: Deep ruby garnet with no browning at the rim.
Nose: Initially shy but opening up to a nice earthy dusty mature cab nose with blackberry background notes.
Palate: Crisp, lean and tart with good acidity, compact fruit and still evident tannins. Nice '80s style wine that's still alive and kicking...

  • Aged very well. Color is just slightly bricking, but still opaque black/purple. Prune and leather on the nose. Incredibly smooth and tasty on the palate with subdued cab fruit. Beautifully balanced, nice finish (but could be longer).

  • Cork was soaked through and came out in two piece. Bottle was in great shape with excellent fill. Maintained a deep red fruit color, just some slight browning at the top. Appears quite young. Palate shows some tired madeirized fruit notes, but bits of tar and dankness. Really not bad for its age, but perhaps better years ago. Nice for the history.

  • 2007 Magnum - Very Good - Heavy and Full Bodied definate STEAK vino - hearty - long long long finish, but color had started to go, and on the nose it was weaker than expected, would have neared 90 had color and nose held. Tobacco, pepper, smokey...
