  • Tasted on the 11th with a 1974 F1 Selection. Purchased from the producer by a member.

Huge surprise as to how taut and powerful this wine still is. Dark purple and very opaque with almost no red hues toward the rim.

Plum and dark fruit notes on the nose with a considerable dose of oak.

On the palate this was quite full bodied with a huge gob of teeth drying tannins and blackberry, smoke and firm acidity.

This was excellent and could go much longer. Love to see what it's doing in 10-15 years.

  • Had via magnum. Took about 30 minutes for initial funk to blow off revealing deep red fruit and decent balance for a wine of this vintage. Likely at or past peak. Would drikn if I had em. Had next to 1981 Pine Ridge cab(mag)...both showed very well.

  • En magnum. I'm surprised there are no tasting notes on CT for this wine, but there are only 14 bottles shown in holdings. Served about an hour after decanting. Medium brick red that darkened with time. Cedar and wet earth on the nose. Red fruit, with balanced tannins and acid. Mature but not declining. This is an excellent wine with years of life left, but no reason to hold.
