  • Wish I had 12 more of these. This wine is SINGING. There's a reason for the average 93.2 rating on CT, but even at this the wine is underrated. Tannin has softened and integrated beautifully. Full bodied. Black and blue fruit on the nose and front. Cinnamon spice, chocolate to the middle with a hint of herb and black tea. Pepper finish. Acidity in check. Extremely balanced. Pop and pour. This wine was incredible tonight. If you have these, drink them. 96 without thinking twice.

  • This one was served pop and pour, and I really wish that I had double decanted earlier in the AM as this wine was a touch too young. Even after 3 hours, the wine was still not completely open. But it was showing what it has to offer in the FUTURE, and for that I'm glad that the other bottle is in long term storage because that's exactly where it needs to be. Cocoa, black cherry, black tea, medium+ density wine. Lots of black cherry and coffee bean in the middle. The finish is darker, and did show very well after 3 hours to include a lot of blackberry and black pepper in the finish. At the time that this one was completely GONE was the time when we should have started DRINKING on it. Lots of tannin still on the finish. This wine will be beautiful in 5 years, and will hold another 15 quite easily.

  • Wine 2 of SB50 and Wine1 of dinner. Served with burgers. This is a nice Cab, that is really starting to show some signs of maturity but is still quite young. This wine is already leaning towards darker traits already. Poured a dark red into the glass. Nose is blackberry but also herbaceous and tobacco filled in the middle. The finish is still rather tannic, and this one is planning to be decanted for at least an hour or so. Quite honestly, it will probably be consumed before it even makes the decanter. Coming back to this note, this one did seem to get a little more youthful with time. It did survive 1-2 hours, and really was showing itself quite a bit more....as we were finishing it up. Blackberry pie front, leathery middle, finished with tannin, black pepper, and an herbal note. Quite a nice wine: the other two are in safe hands in the lockup! Drink 2017-2026
