  • Late night at home. Screw-cap. Drank from decanter over 2+ hours.
Drank in Gabriel Standart and Sydonios Meridional. Tasted blind.
Initially quite green on the nose and intensely sour acidic on the palate. Hated it at first but it really came around and became much better with more air time.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of capsicum, light Chinese herbs, integrated vanilla toast oak, blackcurrant, graphite ;pencil lead, purple fruits and leather emerging. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), integrated soft high tannins full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of integrated vanilla toast oak, blackcurrant, blackberries, black cherries, graphite, capsicum, menthol, emerging leather. Long spicy finish.
Very good quality. Complex and in a Bordeaux mould.

  • Well this was a game of two halves. Opened day 1 and can't help but say I was a bit disappointed. Reticent nose, and refined cabernet palate in that "smooth" Australian style, quite high acid and a red-fruited dimension to it, but not a great deal more. Had the rest the next day and what a difference! Layered spice-box nose, much deeper, broader, palate, more velvety, smoky. So I suppose the lesson is to decant it for ages?

  • Decnatered around one hour. Deep garnet, cassis, perhaps some cigar box. Nice wine, which should improve. 92-94+

  • Can't describe how disappointed I was with this wine. Whilst it was very smooth, it exhibited none of the characteristics I value in Margaret River Cab. It had a slightly metallic back palate that really spoiled the wine for me.

  • Moss Wood Zoom Vertical tasting. Screw-cap Drank in Grassl 1855.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, purplish ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of mix of black and red fruits - dark red plums, black cherries, black berries, integrating toast oak, frsh cedar, freshly sharpened pencil and shavings. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol, soft rounded plush high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of fresh cedarwood, menthol, at times seemingly raw integrating oak, black cherries, dark red plums, blackberries, complex touch of fresh pencil shavings. Structure builds towards the long finish.
Very good complexity. For more ageing. Feels a little cooler than the 2014 and 2008 vintages.
