Pleasantly surprised that the wine was still alive. Slight amber rim but quite opaque in the center. Nose showed dark fruits, cedar, and mature earth. Palate full of dark cherry, cedar, with good mild acidity that keeps the flavor alive. Medium bodied with decent finish.

Wine Group Tasting of Old Cabernet Sauvignon vintages. (Yan's China Bistro, Walnut Creek, Ca.): Wine Group Tasting of Old Cabernet Sauvignon vintages. This bottle was generously provided by Alex Yan, the restaurant owner. Nose of black cherry, old Cabernet Sauvignon character, and a touch of earth, same on the palate, medium body, elegant, soft, showing its age but still holding up, time to drink up is now, fresh, fruity tasty. My Score #5 of 5.

While I broke the cork while opening it is in miraculously good shape. There was very little evaporation.
The color was a pretty garnet tending toward a brick rim.
The nose was extremely delicate with stewed red notes abounding. There was a pronounced fig and leafy note. No red fruit remained. I would say the nose was interesting but not pretty in any way.
The palate was lean with pronounced acidity and little tannin. The was little length to the finish as most of the substance was gone.
Overall a fun wine to taste but clearly past its prime; but that was expected.
If you have any drink now or hold to see how cali cabs mosey off into the sunset

Way past it’s prime, but still showing respectable fruit and acidity.

In great shape actually. Nice aged cab characteristics, including tobacco, light cedar, mellow blue fruits. An unexpected surprise.
