  • tasted blind
    nose- spicecake, panettone
mouth -rich, even voluptuous. Grgich hills was something i'd never guess in a million years, in spite of the fact i've had this wine before and found it to be similar, on multiple prior occasions.

  • Nice bottle of old school Cali. This is a blend of Napa and Sonoma fruit according to the label; fully mature and likely in a slow decline, this still had lots of pleasure to offer. The nose was initially mostly earth driven, but with air showed some dark fruits, mint, tobacco alongside the damp earth and leaf litter. The palate was fully mature with resolved tannins, but still delivered some fruit and lovely earthy notes. Overall tasty and fun to try.

  • nose - heavy, brandied, brown sugar
mouth - superbly rich - brown sugar, vermouth heavy almost porty.
Possibly some bottle variation here though the patriarch claims the fill was the highest he has seen yet. Drink up!!

  • tasted blind, at age 40. no way I would have guessed this to be a 40 year old Napa cab. at first I got oakiness but then complex orange peel/red fruit. in the mouth lush and delicious fruit . hard to believe its a 40 year old Napa wine. but it seems its my 3rd time trying it , with quite consistent notes. so overall somewhat stunned.

sticker on bottle shows it sold for $16 in its day
