A Blind Cabernet Tasting: [Tasted Double Blind] This pours medium ruby in the glass with light bricking at the rim. The nose is attractive with good complexity but only moderate intensity showing dried black cherry, dried black and red currants, graphite, dusty attic, faint eucalyptus, cedar spice box, tobacco, and a touch of new sawdusty oak that is mostly integrated, but just pokes out a little. The palate is still fairly youthfully structured with medium plus tannin and medium acid. There is definitely a little alcoholic bite on the finish, feeling like 13.5%. This is a tad astringent for me on the palate and the finish with the tannin and oak poking through just a little more than I'd like. In the end I called this an early to mid-90s California Cabernet, shooting for an old world profile. Upon reveal this made perfect sense and was nicely done for the producer and vintage if hit with just a bit too much new charred oak for my ideal tastes.

Drinking absolutely beautifully. Was quite surprised at how well the wine held up over 24 years. Oxidative qualities just starting to appear but still beautiful concentration of fruit and rounded out tannins

We tasted this during our virtual Monday Night Tasting...lots of fruit and tannins that are integrating nicely. Out of five people tasting five thought it Bordeaux, with four guessing Left Bank, one Right Bank and many close to guessing the vintage. Noticed the last few tasting notes on this wine the scores have come back up...is this wine making a resurgence? Still have one more bottle and holding for another year or two.

Fantastic provenance (purchased directly from a reputable wine focused restaurant). Slow-ox for ~2.5 hours before drinking this wine was classic in every wonderful way mid-90s Napa Cabs were once made. Bold, fragrant, rustic nose gave way to a full-bodied yet delightfully restrained Cabernet with a silky long finish. A joy of a wine and fantastic at 34 years old. My guess is provenance was the key to its showing compared to the decidedly negative experiences from other Cellartracker notes.
