Definitely worth aging Grgich as this wine was still showing a strong tannic backbone, but a beautiful fresh red and black cherry fruit core has emerged making this wine a perfect emolument for a meal of red meat and veggies, outstanding!
Out of all the vintages I tried over the last 15 years, this is my least favorite. Not that it is horrible. It is just a bit rougher on the finish than in past years. I decantered it for an hour.

Nose The wine is developing and exhibits pronounced intensity with aromas of black plum, black cherry, currant, tar, cedar, leather, and vanilla.
Palate The wine is dry with a full body, high acidity, medium (+) tannins, high alcohol, and exhibits pronounced flavors of black cherry, blackberry, currant, chocolate, bell pepper, black liquorice, clove and toast.
Conclusion The quality of the wine is very good. It is still developing and its structure will allow it to age nicely, but it can be enjoyed now. Grgich always delivers bang for the buck, IMO. Life and wine are good!
