lightly corked but still drinkable, very left bank like with fresh/ripe black fruit, and ample minerality. in terms of evolution, just beginning to enter drinking window, and probably open for the next 20 years.

Managed to nurse the cork out without resorting to the Ah-So. Menthol/eucalyptus on the nose, over dark stone fruits. Fine tannins still present. Maybe a touch of barnyard? Good acidity, should be great with steaks. I could mistake this for a Heitz.

Cork broke on opening. Filtered and decanted for about an hour. Nose of cassis and cherry. Wine was bright and relatively acidic. Tannins were completely tamed and in the background. Still alive and well. Initially some spice and tobacco that disappeared pretty quickly. Plum/cherry were still very pronounced with some menthol. Finish was medium in length. I was surprised that the fruit was still so out front. I didn't intend to store this wine for all these years, sort of just happened as there was always something else to open. Although I really thought it would be old and faded, that was not the case. All in all a pleasant surprise but nothing spectacular.

Retained the qualities that make it Cabernet. Still had some tannin left. Was surprised that is still drank well.

So much life left in this unassuming wine. Bright aromatics, cherry and tobacco on the palate with the barest hint of barnyard. A big surprise.
