Nose: plum, blackberry, sage and leather with hints of hot sandy soil. Palate: Enters with Plum and Bruised Strawberry fruit, then dried blackberry notes and tobacco. Acidity and Minerality are featured, giving balance to leather, green pepper and sage notes. Finish: Moderate with plum fruit and minerally stone notes.
Fruit was a bit darker than the last bottle, but it also had more time to open up. This shows far more old world, and would be at home in a lineup of 70's/80's bordeaux. I also think the terroir of Mt. Veeder is expressed nicely in this wine. Drink these up as they are in a great place right now, and should hold on plateau for a few more years.

This was excellent; swagger and classicism amalgamated. Lifted strawberry Starburst notes, almost a touch of citrus with rose, peony, integrated wood, and fresh earth. The tannins have melted away - no seams are left.

Getting 2015 Started Right (Concord, MA): Nose: Turned earth, green pepper, bright cherry/blackberry fruit and some tobacco/spice notes. Very layered nose. Palate: Strawberry starburst, Sweet Cherry fruit (similar to the Lagrange that preceded it) and nice green pepper, mint and eucalyptus. Finish: Strong acidity in the finish that delivers tart black fruit, tobacco and some sweet mint notes.
Surprisingly bright and fresh napa cab at 30 years old.

Nose: Cherry, Currant, Tobacco and Leather. Palate: Evolved quickly over 2-hours. Dried Black fruit dominated early. However, a cherry preserve and clove note came into the wine as it decanted. Finish: Good length and complexity. Excellent expression of Mt. Veeder.

At London Wine Bar. Medium ruby. Good fruity nose. Good fruit. Avoids to some degree the over-oaked character of the 1983, but still very woody. 5-11-14-5: 85/100.
