Piemonte: Truffles instead of Turkey; 11/23/2023-12/2/2023 (Barolo, Barbaresco, Alto Piemonte and of course Alba): Brought to a Barolo producer’s afternoon of drinking mostly because I’m not sure that old California gets the love that it deserves and this seemed like it should get a bit more. I was a huge fan. I poured only two of the wines twice and it was this and the Giulia Negri. Super well balanced, right amount of secondary maybe even tertiary but then also this lovely fruit that is right there. Very enjoyable.

What the Italians call 'vegetale'. Canned green beans nose with hint of ash. The palate is sweet and pleasing enough though. Not to be had without food.

Cork was in good condition. Good color, only slightly bricking on the edges. Started out a bit rough smelled like being in a locker room. Took a good 20 minutes to blow off. Wine opened up giving a nice dark cherry flavor.

A green note is really present in this. Evolved but still alive.
