  3 liter magnum. A certain funkiness reduced my enjoyment of the wine. Nonetheless, we emptied the bottle by the end of the night.

  Paired with spaghetti marinara. Weird nose blew off after 1 hour slow ox. Very good. Oak really shines.

  Maybe a $35 bottle is not a “value wine” but that is how I think of MVW. Everything I like in a Napa cab is here - blackberry and dark cherry fruit, hints of tobacco and cedar, some earthiness. Solid Napa Cab with some real character at a reasonable price.

  A couple years ago, several trackers' notes indicated that this wine was way too oaky and overextracted. I had a bottle back then and more-or-less concurred. However, I suspected (hoped) that it would settle down with more time. Boy, it feels great to be right for once. In the summer of 2023, this wine is borderline outstanding. Oak is barely noticeable, and it's not jammy in the least. Terrific balance with no rough edges. Medium body seamlessly leads to a super finish. This bottle set me back $33, and it was my go-to "budget" Napa cabernet for several years. Of course, the current release is priced at around $63, so "budget" no longer applies.

  excellent
  The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle.
