Vinetasters: Mt. Veeder (Park Ridge, IL): Served double blind. A slight brettanomyces note here. Weirdly, a nose of Swedish fish candy. The palate is very chewy with intense, oak-derived tannin. Some out-of-place brown Christmas spice notes as well. Missing a midpalate, but reminds me of eating some cherry candy. My 8th, group's 2nd.

This one did not improve much in my opinion. 3 hour decant and wine is just very so-so. Nothing great but nothing offensive about it either. Glad I decided to have this now and not wait any longer

I usually drink this wine young so it was a treat to have one with a little bottle age. Plump, full bodied, and well sculpted, this offers abundant depth, structure, and concentration, with a candied edge to notes of dark fruit, cassis, licorice, and dried mint. Picks up a whiff of ash on the long and flavorful finish. Delicious with a 2+ hour decant and has the goods to go the distance.

Berry and green peppers, soft tannins paired well with grilled filet mignon and baked vegetables

Cellared at 58F. On the downslope, missing optimum fruit
