Big amorphous, lethargic wine but I liked it. All weight and concentration, with restrained tannins, a black olive, briery, plummy linger, modest acidity. Grows on you.

Pleasant enough but for me lacked freshness and structure. Tasted overly smooth and integrated for its age and a little lacking in overall character. Nice enough by stylistically not my favourite type of wine. It tasted warm and smooth. Like everything was blended but lacking distinction. Nice enough but not great.

100% Shiraz. The Factor is the Manager on a Scottish Highlands Estate. Torbreck is named after a forest in the Scottish Highlands, founded in 1994 by former lumberjack David Powell. Purchased by Peter Knight in 2008. Dramatically different fruit aroma. Nuanced with sweet barrel spice to the nose. ‘Salted beef, licorice, olive tapenade. Daylight Chambers Vineyard (plantings 1901, 1910, 1920, 1921), plus four other sites

Cary's Night of the Aussie's! (Cary's Castle): Similar to the Lily's garden but A little better in every aspect. Mint/clove action on the nose, dark cherry, rich raspberry and wonderful nose all around. Finishes long and mouth-filling without being gloppy, really nice finish. My 1 of 5 and the groups 1 of 5.

Real Review - Top Wineries of Australia (Est. Restaurant, George Street, Sydney): Ripe jammy black fruits, sweet spice, very slight peppery underpin and some jubey prettiness as well. It's a bit soupy on the palate, obviously a bit over extracted, tannins are tight, chalky, persistent but the fruit carries. Alcohol warmth on the finish. Big though balanced. Okay for what it is.
