Paired against the Factor 2010, both double-decanted which is advisable. Sweet, extracted fruit of red cherry and brambleberry. Smoke and leather. Tons of Asian 5 spice, also green olives, horse saddle and tobacco. The palate is intense, but with good balance. The Factor beats the Descendent on complexity and was more herbal vs a more herbal profile for the Descendent. But both pale in comparison to the bombastic RunRig 2010 (which I need to revisit).

Aerated with a two hour decanting. Opened up beautifully. Big wine with a lovely front-end of fruit that lingers on the palate. Fine, integrated tannins. Drinking superbly now, but will easily last another five years.

Tasting Ground official tasting, Torbreck The Factor vertical (Oinoscent): Varietal: 100% Shiraz Regions: Marananga, Greenock, Krondorf, Gomersal, Kalimna & Ebenezer Harvest: March 2010 pH: 3.73, acidity: 6.59g/L, alcohol: 15.84% Fermentation: Small parcels of fruit from old dry grown vines are selected for their individual qualities and matured separately in both new and old French barriques. The wine was assembled in June 2012 and bottled without filtration or fining in August the same year. -/- Closer to the 2008 vintage but the nose is even more evolved, wet earthy, coffee, red dried cherries, sour cherry liquer, low intensity Palate is fully evolved, 15.50%, dissolved tannins, medium acidity, coffee liquer, coffee, chocolate, hints of dried red fruits, a few raisins, dates, medium finish -//- 24h: stayed the same, a bit of fruit, earthy, spicy palate

The wine is clear, with deep ruby color and watery rims. On the nose the wine is clean, with medium primary aromas of red ripe fruits, fresh meat, and spices, along with medium secondary aromas of oak, and oak spices. On the palate the wine is dry, with medium plus acidity, medium ripe tannins, medium body, medium plus alcohol, medium plus flavors of fresh meat, ripe red fruits, forest berries, black berries, plum jam. The wine is of a very good quality, due to its complexity, depth and balanced acidity along with fruit driven style. It is enjoyable, appealing and vibrant now, but can benefit from slight more aging, in order to develop those secondary aromas and flavors profiles even more.

Aussie wines may start to redeem themselves in my books this year thanks to the patience of some Vivino fellow drinkers, what an introduction this Torbreck The Factor is!
The nose with a beautiful Lychee and Ribena blackberry bouquet is an amazing intro to this special Wine, then comes the onslaught of intense red fruits on the palate. This is a Barossa Valley gem, with the longest of finishes too.
Appreciate the generous sharing @[1|9482449|Mika Tyson Teau] Cheers from our regular Butchers Table pre-Thaipusam!
