I drank half the bottle yesterday and half today. It was spectacular on both days. The 2001 Parker review called it stunning and I would agree but his drinking interval ended in 2011. This is 2020 and it was still great. Great black fruit and well balanced. Wish I had more. Looking forward to drinking the 2003.

Still dark red, in fantastic shape. Nose: cinnamon, cheries and old, worn saddle leather. Herbs de Provence. Big orange zest. Touch of nutmeg and cedar. Palate: medium palate, nice acidity. Peppery and lush cherry juice with toasted cinnamon and cloves. Spearmint. Saline and hickory smoke. Nicely balanced and extremely pleasant, it's still holding onto a bit of sweetness. Gorgeous refinement and very graceful for its age, it's not done.

Annihilated the cork on this one, so caveat opener. Dark crimson color with opaque core. Somewhat restrained nose at first, which bloomed with aeration. Burnt cocoa, mesquite, oily aromas and a top note of potpourri. The palate is quite lush by comparison, filled with deep flavors of black fruit. The tannins are ample despite the age, but two hours of decanting allows this to mellow out somewhat, supporting an overall smooth mouthfeel. This is very strong Shiraz, Australian in character (in all the good ways and none of the bad) and represents the high level of quality on which Torbreck's reputation is justifiably built.

Very good, but seemed too old - less power, tannin and finish than expected.
