(SYP) Decanted for 2 hours. Small glass A slight hint of VA, along with aromas of cedar, ocean air and black fruit. Noticeably thinner than the '17 Montrose served next to it. 87+

Clear deep ruby/purple; clean pronounced nose of fall cracked leaves, forest floor, fresh figs, cassis and tobacco leaf; dry; medium plus acidity; medium tannins; medium alcohol; medium body; pronounced flavour intensity; palate is tarter with cocoa, leather and dried fruit; long finish; phenomenal- drinking beautifully!

Another fabulous bottle from this underrated vintage - slightly austere to be sure but shows everything a top northern Médoc needs to do. Delicious with rack of lamb!

Fresh, bright medium-bodied, chalky strawberries and cranberries with tea notes on the nose and palate. The wine is soft, and fully developed, and should be consumed over the next few years. The wine blends 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with 10% Merlot. This is quite an achievement for the vintage. Drink from 2023-2029.

Second bottle of six - I’m not sure it has improved since the last a year ago, but it is pretty flawless top class northern Médoc. Again no colour age yet, refined berry nose with vanilla and cedar wood hints, but it is the palate that wows - rich fruity melange to start then the very definition of silky tannins, with incredible length, complexity and finish. A joy and uprated to 96 (whatever that really means)!
