A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot. Raspberry, leather, earthy funk, and a bit of closet dust make for a Duhart-Milon that seems a bit older than its vintage would indicate. The initial pull was a bit balled up, but it relaxed after an hour or so. I experienced a push-pull of expansion here, with the tertiary flavors seemingly clamping down on the fruit, but then scurrying away to allow some interesting fresh black cherry notes to poke through. Ripe tannins. Moderate finish. At its prime, a pleasurable Bordeaux classic.

Opened the bottle and let it breathe for about 2 hours. Color was light ruby, tending to garnet. Nose showed some maturity, with hints of leather to complement the dark cherries and wood. Acidity was good, balancing the tannins (still quite grippy) well. Notes of wet forest floor, pencil shavings, cherries, black currants. Not particularly layered and a bit thin, but overall quite nicely put together. Ending shows spice and some oak. I liked this wine, even though it’s not a great Bordeaux - mostly due to the mediocre vintage in my opinion. We enjoyed it with a NY strip steak with baked Parmesan asparagi and it was good. Good wine overall with all of the Pauillac tipicity - I would buy again at the right price.

Drank during Cornerstone Provenance Night Event with more than 30 wines tasting. Did not have enough time to take down notes and didn’t have proper wine glasses. In general, the wines are still drinking fine and have characteristics of old vintage wine; forest floor, some barnyard, spices, tea, hawthorn, toast. I only managed to use my own personal score to rate the wine.

This has well structured blackcurrant fruit. It is slightly austere, but has medium weight and good length. Ready, but will keep and perhaps improve.
