My contribution to our Xtremo blind tasting last nite. Reticent nose at first, but opened up over time revealing aromas mostly of red fruit. This is a full-bodied, fruity wine, with good acidity, and is still quite young. Notes of garrigue are present--some green notes, not unlike cab franc--minerality, and it's a bit hot. These Southern Rhones are all high alcohol these days it seems. Very bright, and powerful wine. The GSM mix is appx 77-20-3, tho some at our tasting thought it was more Syrah than Grenache. Give this wine some time in the bottle to become to allow its various elements to become better integrated.

This is in a very nice condition now. The wine is very fruity and full-bodied, but also fresh due to the lively acidity. The notes of ripe red and dark fruits, minerals and garrigue are lovely. It is hard to believe that the wine contains 15 % alcohol. In my opinion, this wine is very convincing now, but it will be even more refined during the next coming years. Bouïssiere is certainly one of the best producers in Gigondas, offering also very good value for money (in this case 20 euros/bottle).

15% alcohol. G 77%, S 20%, Mrvdr 3%. Average age of vines 55 years. Long cork of reasonable quality with little wine penetration. Deep colour with no thinning at the rim. Lovely dark fruited nose with a super bright aspect and no oak. Surprisingly fleet of foot in the mouth thanks in part to a tingly sensation (at least initially); strawberry in evidence, in addition to garrigue and a generally more red fruited aspect than on the nose. The alcohol does not call attention to itself because there is so much else going on. Fine to drink now, although it could evolve into an even more refined drink. An excellent Gigondas and a repeat purchase. Shame to think that for a while I was deterred by the similarity of the estate's name with a rather dreadful (to me) property from the same general area.

Dark berries, plum, slight spiciness, still quite harsh on the tannins, needed some aeration to come alive. Powerful
