Drank at tasting in Hudson. Color somewhat muddy--seems unfiltered. Very dry, sour cherries, dirt, fairly gritty tannins. Old style chianti. Interesting

3/10/2024 9:51:00 PM - Hello Cephomer
We share similar preference re wines (Burgundy/Bordeaux, Italians Piedmont & Bolgheri, German & Alsatian rieslings and more).
I'm visiting NYC twice per year on average and would love to meet you. My next visit in from May25th till June 16th. Looking forward to the occasion.
You can get my email from CT support.
Best regards, Yagil
3/8/2023 11:08:00 AM - The snow has been good at Vail. Not great of late, and I hope things pick up on your trip. Enjoy the snow and your cellar. Cheers.
3/2/2022 6:42:00 PM - Thanks for becoming a fan. After reviewing your notes, I am your fan as well. We seem to like many of the same wines. I know what you mean about the sweet wines. They are great, but I find myself having too few opportunities to drink them. Anyway, cheers, and Good Drinking, as one of my favorite wine retailers always advised.
2/25/2022 10:35:00 AM - Hey Bandreas: Funny you mention my cellar (4K capacity btw) but we're in the process of packing up and moving out of this home, & alas leaving my beautiful cellar behind. More than a little sad about this, but the time has come to move on. So, it's back to those wine caves and the like...I did drink many of the wines in that pic, and still have many more I'm dragging along with me, or selling at auction. You have good taste in wines. Keep drinking! Cephomer
2/25/2022 8:50:00 AM - Hello Cephomer, thank you for honoring me by becoming a fan.
I saw the photograph of your wine cellar: Looks fantastic and I am not a little jealous! I hope you get to drink most of those wines in your life-time and before they are over the hill...
Cheers!
Bandreas
2/1/2022 7:36:00 PM - Hey FransS: Pleasure is all mine, my friend. Enjoy reading your notes as well, and I'm quite jealous of you with all the sweeties you've been tasting of late. Carry on...
1/14/2022 12:19:00 PM - Hey RussK: Will do for sure. I'm not a huge fan of the CF varietal but every so often one pleasantly surprises me. Last one that did was a Pride from CA. Might be worth looking into as well
1/12/2022 5:22:00 PM - Thanks for the kind words. But, I liked your TN better. More descriptive. We probably do have similar tastes. If you find another Loire cab Franc that moves you. Let me know.
5/24/2021 8:08:00 AM - Thanks for the kind words about the cellar.
Happy to send you some more pics. Maybe easiest to look me up on instagram under bonedocnine or send me your email.

3/26/2020 3:52:00 PM - Hey. Yes, I'm aware of those tastings. I usually attend both myself. I bagged this year due to the COVID situation, esp the Italian tasting--waaay too dangerous to go to that one.
Yeah, I really need to do inventory but just can't bring myself to get there. I need to find some HS kid who's tech savvy. I just don't have the attention span or patience at this point in my life. I do review your notes from time to time. You're among those that I actually give some credence to when I'm looking to see what others say about wines I'm tasting. Good to connect!
3/23/2020 2:24:00 PM - It was the Skurnik Grand Portfolio Tasting. I try to make that one every year, It really is quite line up, but I cut it short and only was there about 2 hours....there were so many wines I wanted to tasting but had to leave. I passed on the Tre Bichieri tasting the week before since I really didn't want to be exposed to that many Italians (Winemakers/Families usually come to NYC for that one) all at once, given the COVID-19 situation.
FYI - I hesitated to do my inventory for years but finally broke down and did it 8 years ago...so glad I did. It doesn't take as long as you think, the database is so good and it pulls up the wine with just a word or two most of the time. I especially like that I can see what others are saying about the wines I have. Sometimes they are "red herrings" but sometimes I gets me to try something I should be drinking. Now might be a good time to take the plunge with the stay at home situation currently!
1/21/2018 7:58:00 PM - Good to be friends cephomer. Kistler is one of our favourite California producers. We have been on the mailing list for nearly 20 years. We have visited Burgundy, your favourite region, more than several times and just think it is heaven. Last time we anchored down at Maison Olivier Leflaive for ten days and cried when we had to depart. Awesome!!!
10/23/2017 9:14:00 AM - Thanks for the comment & interest, Cephomer! We can't wait to get into our Don Melchors from Chile, but... we will... another 3-4 years prolly, before we enjoy the first one...
Anyway, a pretty significant birthday is coming up in a few years, and the consensus is to try a birth-year French- LaTour, Petrus or LaFite, etc... A downtown Detroit restaurant has a '70 LaTour for $595 and the owner claims she got it at first release in '75 or something. A very clean bottle... This may turn our tastes toward the land of lovers, from the land down under... (But we DO love our Penfolds too!) We may end up with a '70 Grange instead... We'll see! - - If this is our "Problem" in life, we're doing fine!
Thanks again.

10/22/2017 9:39:00 AM - Hey, now that we're friends, I can suggest that you expand your horizons a bit beyond those mostly 'down under' wines you've been drinking. Nothing at all wrong with them, I know, but it's a big wine world out there. Actually, I was at a wine tasting last week in Edinburgh at which they served a D'arenberg Hermit Crab which I hadn't had before. Loved it! Keep at it!
12/14/2015 9:24:00 PM - Hey cephomer! You have been collecting a good decade longer than us...we are jealous!!! We have a touch north of 2000 bottles and a slightly smaller cellar where OWCs are stacked in the middle as opposed to a table. Your photo is tres cool! We have visited all the same regions except we have yet to parachute into Alsace and Finger Lakes while counting Argentina, South Africa, Cahors, Piedmonte, Tuscany, Priorat, Somontano, Penedes, Douro, Alentejo, Hunter Valley, Hua Hin (Thailand) et voila! Too many regions, not enough time!!! Keep on writing...we enjoy the banter!!!
