Decanted for an hour. Needed filtering. Dark color. Bouquet still shows nice fruit. The fruit continues on the palate with slight tobacco. Great balance and acidity with smooth tannins. This has aged wonderfully. Definitely liked this better than the 2006 Kronos two nights earlier.

Monthly Tasting Group: California and Washington Cabs/Syrah (Estelle, St. Paul, MN): Very dark red/purple, 2mm clear edge. PNP, drank a glass over 2 hours. Sweet cassis, creme de cassis, subtle menthol, espresso, earth on the nose. The palate is lovely and balanced; black and blue fruit, soft texture, creme de cassis, earthy, tar and dark chocolate. Very well presented. 93pts.

Any CA or WA cabernet or syrah (Estrelle, St. Paul): On my notes sheet, I wrote one word: "awesome". Let me try to expand upon that. For a cabernet, this was light, fresh and floral. Great acidity and balance. Some blueberries and spice are in the mix.

Really deep black raspberry fruit with a fine, silky texture and good mineral cut. Layered yet with crisp acids and the finish is still tannic but also beautifully fresh and complex with notes of licorice and eucalyptus. This is the essence of Rutherford Cabernet. 95+

Currants and plums on the nose. Smooth and vibrant fruit, ripe but not overblown. Cherries, plums, tobacco. Smooth tannins, nice acidity, fine balance. Finishes long with plums and currants. Perhaps a bit past peak (it fades a bit with time and air), but lovely.

(Corison Cabernet Sauvignon Kronos Vineyard) This is a serious, classic Cabernet Sauvignon. The tannins are long and deep, the acidity is firm and fresh, and the palate is coated with a lovely mouthful of blueberry, graphite, nutmeg, purple flowers, green olive, cassis, and a little leather. Should age forever. Terroir: Kronos Vineyard
