The second bottle of 4 that I picked up some months back. The first bottle was tasting tired, soupy, and not much fun, so my expectations were dampened. However, this bottle was so, so much better! (I presume, not unrelatedly, so was the condition of the cork). A fully mature, mellow wine, and a lovely one at that. No notes taken at the time, but from memory a good core of somewhat cooked fruit (cherry, plumb), lovely earthy, truffle like notes, milk chocolate, sweet spices and enough tension to keep it feeling alive & refreshing. I adored this bottle :) JG gives a drinking window until 2035, but I plan to drink my remaining bottles this year..
Greatest Hits of the 80s! (La Trompette): The nose didn't promise or provide a great deal, being a touch musty and mushroomy (truffley, if being generous), but the wine was really enjoyable on the palate - subtle, refreshing, juicy and persistent, with good line and length.

Jason’s 80’s Bordeaux @La T: Less expressive on the nose. I’ve,y dense and savoury in the palate. A good wine, very good in fact, but just not quite the class of the DDC alongside. ***1/2

Jason's 1980s Bordeaux Dinner (La Trompette, Chiswick): Nose a touch reticent - showing some smoky red fruit, spice and earth. Medium bodied, quite lean, some firmish tannins, medium/good length finish.
