A very pleasant surprise - could easily pass for a Pauillac wine and a good one at that.
2011 was not a great year and this wine would have been an awakard baby. But 12 years later, it is a wonderful wine and one that could fool a seasoned Bordeaux drinker in thinking it is an old world wine. Lovely red with no signs of ageing, lovely aromas of smoked wood, cassis and white perfume on the nose. Body is medium and light on its feet, certainly not shy in coming forward. More cassis, smoked cedar, white pepper and a hint of oak. Fine tannin although it is omnipresent. Lovely finish if somewhat abrupt ending.
Drink now to 6+ years.

A gentle, well balanced, crunchy Victorian Cab. Less blueberries/blackcurrant/fruit, more structure and finesse. A wet vintage and I'm not sure whether to keep our other bottle or to drink it now. Went well with pizza. 😁🍕

Giaconda Tasting (PWS Melbourne): An interesting wine. Almost more recognisably Giaconda than Cabernet. Complex nose of mixed berry fruit and earthy complexity. Reasonably light and not overly tannic palate, again with an interesting flavour profile.
