  Remarkably deep colour for a 1980; slightly reticent nose, black fruit, cedar and vanilla, complex top notes (spices, herbs, flowers), good depth and harmony; rounded and supple palate, medium weight, generous and attractive style, almost easy, fleshy fruit, ink, gentle but refreshing acidity, ripe tannins provide backbone; good length. A successful 1980.
