Pretty nose with more emphasis on red than black fruit. More harmonious than last time but still not completely in balance. Oak still shows, acidity seems a bit too harsh. Good but not great.

Dark full-bodied with a lush texture and nicely balanced tannins. There is fruit cake and an element of blueberry that I often find in Merlot dominated wines. The equal of many a St Emilion grand cru (though not quite Classe) and an added mark for vfm in the context of Bordeaux.
0.375 L bottle at restaurant „Atable“ mid Feb 2024: decanted; cardinal red color; intense aromas of cherry, dark berries, herbs and slight hints of truffles in nose and mouth; lush texture accompanied with a low acidity.
Surprisingly mature. Nice and easy drinking.

Château d'Aiguilhe Côtes de Castillon 2016 (14.5% ABV) Good, fruity, merlot-accentuated Castillon, not necessarily typical of Bordeaux, but Castillon is not known for typicality anyway. Conclusion: a very good Bordeaux for those with no affinity for Bordeaux... 89(-90)

Color is deep ruby. Notes of black fruits but also licorice. Earthy and smooth. A faint note of mint? chalky soil. Tannins are pretty smooth, but still a bit of room to age. Acidity is well balanced (medium). Fresh and elegant.
