Bottled 1981, so only 12 years on oak - a very young Colheita in fact. Very pale orange tawny colour; modest but intense nose of smoky wood, candied fruit and fresh nuts; the palate is sweet but remarkably tangy and fresh, energetic and not drying out at all after 35 years in bottle, concentrated but with light flavours; salmiac and gunpowder finish, lacks a bit of fruit at this stage, very good length. A worthy survivor.
