I really like this wine, but then again, I am a big fan of '88. That said, if you are not a fan of green and vegetal flavors in your BDX, then this is not for you. This shows lots of saddle leather, tobacco, leaf litter and bell pepper notes, with enough cassis fruit to add some balance, and those classic '88 tannins on the back end (which are pretty well integrated at this point). I love it.

Textbook '88 BDX, a vintage I adore. Nose brimming with tobacco, leaf litter, leather and a bit of green pepper. Rustic and a bit vegetal (in a good way), with cassis and herbal notes, and a chewy tannic finish. Classic claret.

Definitely and old lady but quite elegant. The nose indicated Bourdeaux with fruit and earthiness and it was a bit thin on the taste. No great finish but the fruit and tannins were blended nicely, making it any easy drink but still quite complex and interesting. Certainly drink now but I do not regret no opening it earlier.

At South mb w/ big ribeye and a mignon. Best company, she loved it. When I opened it got a very bad aftertaste, after 3 hours decanted and bottled it again, definitely an old lady but quite elegant, a bit thin on the taste. great but short finish, fruit and tannins were blended nicely, rather complex & interesting. It was outstanding.

I think it is way past prime and it was not very good. Our bottle may have been corked. Too bad! The wine looks violet colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle.
