Little barnyard on the nose, not very disturbing. Typical left-bank nose of mushrooms, truffle, menthol and meat. The wine is fresh on the palate, some cherries still coming through. Nice ending on the "cool side". This is a light-feet "lefty" with nice structure and some complex aromas. For a better score its lacking the tension and vertical pressure and there is some washing powder aroma that doesn't completely disappear over 2 hours with air. But all in all a very good wine. Drank immediately after PnP over 2 hours. Drink now!

Showing really youthful for 34 years old. Light bricking at the edges. Nose of crushed pumice, cigar box, wet loamy earth. Silky and seamless on the palate with good balance of fruit and minerality.

Greatest Hits of the 1980s and 1990s Bordeaux (Hawksmoor Guildhall): A lighter red than the others on the table, and much more immediately on the fruit than the prior flight, perhaps not unexpectedly. Deep cassis, expressively dark fruited on the nose. Far too easy to drink, tannins well integrated, this went down like Ribena (highest praise) and there is a definite aluring sweetness more on the red fruit spectrum as the wine warms up. An absolute pleasure and more than held its own against the big hitters we tasted during the evening. Excellent, I need to find some!

(Château de Fieuzal) Group's #5 (my #5) – 58 pts; 2, 2, 0, 0 - bricking dark red violet color with pale meniscus; mature, tobacco, herbaceous, black tea, lamb jus nose; tight, tart cassis, tart plum, black fruit palate that dries out mid-palate; short-medium finish (I was guessing '70 Bordeaux--this tasted a lot older than '90)

Smells like a plum picked just about one week after peak. Smells bold, fruity, earthy, and then floral all at once.
Slow opening, wide and deep middle, earthy, cherry, and plum finish.

Elegant old guard BDX. Tart raspberry that gives way to soft dark leather. Tons of length, completely integrated. Drink now.
