  • Again I am amazed at how well my older California cabs and merlot are drinking today. Good deep brick color, clean nose, long smooth finish with decent fruit

  • It has been so long that I had forgotten just how amazingly the old Duckhorn wines can age.

mature red color with some bricking, spicy plums on the nose, on the palate fully mature, forest floor, spicy black plums, good long finish with notable yet well-balanced acids, tea leaf notes with time, cherries, genteel, fragrant, lovely.

****+, in a good place but drink soon

  • Dark ruby in color with some minor bricking & clearing at the edges. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe red fruit aromas of cherries & plums with classic overtones of tobacco & cedar notes, earthy/dusty, some leather notes, spices, herbs, cocoa/mocha notes & a hint of vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of sweet cherries, berries & tart plums, spices, cocoa & coffee, herbs, minerals & a hint of vanilla. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present but at 39 years of age it appears to be at its peak of development, so drink up!

  • Drank unexpectedly well during the first hour, akin to an old school Bordeaux, or for that matter, an old school Napa Cab. Considerably dry, and relatively low acid. Dusty nose, medium tannins. 13.5% ABV

  • With MPL at Singer & Foy Duckhorn survey. Medium ruby. Slightly brooding. Looks rich. Delicately scented fruit. On the palate, fruity, light but rich. Good mouthfeel. Licorice. Lasting. 5-10 (minty)-15-7: 87/100
