Dark ruby in color with some minor bricking & clearing at the edges. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe red fruit aromas of cherries, plums & figs with classic overtones of tobacco & cedar notes, earthy/dusty, some leather notes, herbs & a hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums, spices, herbs, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present but at 37 years of age it appears to be at its peak of development, so please drink up! Fill was at lower portion of neck; cork crumbed upon opening.

We took a chance on this old girl and it was actually reminiscent of an old world wine. Brick/brown rim. Not much on the nose and no tannins left, but earth and mushroom delighted on the palate. You have to like the old juice, but a fun one to try.

This was a very nice wine. I was a bit wary about it after seeing some reviews about it being way past its peak, but after decanting and letting it breathe for about an hour, it was lovely. It didn't need any longer than that to open up. It was smooth with nice chocolate notes, figs, and a semi-strong anise, which worked very well with the dish I was making. My guests and I were quite pleased!

bought this one on a lark to try and see what it would be like. Not sure what I was thinking at the time. THis was not that great of a wine when it was released and this bottle was long past it's prime. Not flawed but certainly dead. Down the drain it went. Not rated

Deep purple with brown rim, shows its age, caramel, figs, old chocolate. Not much fruit anymore, for its age, it was a beautiful wine.
