  • 2018 Monticello Vineyards (Corley Family) Cabernet Sauvignon Corley Reserve

Deep dark reddish-purple in color. Full, forward, & fragrant aromas of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & some cassis with overtones of dusty/earthy & floral notes, spices, mint, herbs, cocoa, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Full bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with cocoa, herbs, minerals & a hint of vanilla/oak. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but should develop further with additional aging.

  • 2021 Pine Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Deep, dark reddish-purple in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of dusty/earthy & floral notes, cocoa, spices, herbs, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums, mocha, minerals, herbs, spices & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing and should develop further with additional aging at which time it may merit a higher score (91+). IMHO, I do not see how it is possible that this well-crafted wine could rate a mere "82" unless it was an off bottle. I wish people who "trash" a wine would at least give their reasons for such a low score so we can see their basis for it.

  • 2021 Marcel et Blanche Fèvre Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume

Light golden in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of citrus notes lemons/limes, grapefruit & pears with mineral/flinty overtones, some floral notes, spices, stony & chalky. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe citrus flavors of lemons/limes, grapefruit & green apples, chalky, spices, stony & minerals. Lingering crisp finish. Drinks quite well at present but should develop further with additional aging at which time, it may merit a higher score (93+). Very good QPR especially in light of the prices for many domestic Chardonnays of this quality.

2/28/2023 7:52:00 PM - I'm just reading this for the first time. SRH sent me many messages over the years, and also saw him many times at Vintage Wines. I'm absolutely shocked to hear he is gone. A real class act who I, for one, will greatly miss. Rest in peace.

9/30/2022 1:45:00 PM - So sad to hear this. I lived in SD most of my life and used to see him at Vintage Wines. I’ve known John Lindsay for many years.

6/13/2022 9:17:00 PM - It is with deep regret that I was informed SRH, a frequent commentator here & a good friend, has recently passed away. Stanley, my dearest friend, we will all miss you very much!
