Holy Moly Amarone (DP's, Goose Hollow, Portland OR): The nose is rich, yet perfumed and with a savorier take to the tones of licorice, black cherries, violets, raspberries, plum sauce, some prunes, vanilla extract, and figs. There is a lot of depth with a real vibrancy to the fruit that is intoxicating. The Full bodied feel is deep and balanced with moutwatering, medium acidity and chewy, medium+ tannins. The structure still has some youth to it while the nose is a real knockout. This is a killer Amarone that is giving joy now, but there is still a good ways to go.

Dal Forno Romano Tasting (Hedonism London): Profound on the nose: a wine you keep returning to as it unfurls its treasures. Roasted meat, charred rosemary, blackberry, cherry liqueur, Earl Grey tea, dark chocolate, blood orange, savoury herbs and prune. As it warms in the glass and breathes it comes together like a brandy-laden Christmas cake then gets more medicinal. Intense, ripe tannins and rich concentration give it an immense mouthfeel. Very long, very medicinal finish. Sip it like a digestif.

Wow. Opened and decanted for almost 4 hours. Dense deep and definitely could go 10-15 more years before peak. Classic amarone, dried fruit bounding out of the glass. Tannins pretty well integrated. Almost sweet/syrupy. Paired with bisteeya which is a sweet/savory meat pie…about a perfect pairing for this wine.

Super dense and dark. Dark chocolate, ripe black/blueberry, anise, aged leather and minerals. Full throttle but nice acidity and freshness. This likely needs ten years.
