Holy Moly Amarone (DP's, Goose Hollow, Portland OR): The nose is rich, yet perfumed and with a savorier take to the tones of licorice, black cherries, violets, raspberries, plum sauce, some prunes, vanilla extract, and figs. There is a lot of depth with a real vibrancy to the fruit that is intoxicating. The Full bodied feel is deep and balanced with moutwatering, medium acidity and chewy, medium+ tannins. The structure still has some youth to it while the nose is a real knockout. This is a killer Amarone that is giving joy now, but there is still a good ways to go.

Dal Forno Romano Tasting (Hedonism London): Profound on the nose: a wine you keep returning to as it unfurls its treasures. Roasted meat, charred rosemary, blackberry, cherry liqueur, Earl Grey tea, dark chocolate, blood orange, savoury herbs and prune. As it warms in the glass and breathes it comes together like a brandy-laden Christmas cake then gets more medicinal. Intense, ripe tannins and rich concentration give it an immense mouthfeel. Very long, very medicinal finish. Sip it like a digestif.

Wow. Opened and decanted for almost 4 hours. Dense deep and definitely could go 10-15 more years before peak. Classic amarone, dried fruit bounding out of the glass. Tannins pretty well integrated. Almost sweet/syrupy. Paired with bisteeya which is a sweet/savory meat pie…about a perfect pairing for this wine.

Super dense and dark. Dark chocolate, ripe black/blueberry, anise, aged leather and minerals. Full throttle but nice acidity and freshness. This likely needs ten years.

All my guests enjoyed this bottle immensely. They couldn't get enough of it. The alternative was an excellent 2012 Torres Mas La Plana (Black Label). Had with T-bone steaks. Didn't even need to decant; just popped half hour before hand.

(from a Cruvinet at Riedel bar, BKK) Liquid silk. It has been a while since i had DF A and this is a tick-up from my memory in the texture and completeness. Great fruit with freshness and vivacity. Alcohol doesn't weigh heavy. Balanced. Just straight up enjoyable.

Opened last night and I concur with the tasting notes below as this wine needs a couple hours decant as this is still a baby of a wine. This is a huge effort, but a clean, superlative specimen of Amarone done right. There is plenty of sweetness, along with dark sweet cherry, licorice, tannins, and mild acidity. I think the drinking window for this to mature and really be enjoyed may be quite a few years off. This is the quintessential Amarone and you know its an Amarone at the first sip, but just too young.

Tasting with Marco Pinna (the export manager of Romano dal Forno). Third wine of five. Tasted alongside the 2006 Amarone della Valpolicella. A real charmer, off course far more rich and creamy than the Valpolicella's tasted just before this. However, in this flight the 2011 really must admit it's superior in the 2006 Amarone for my taste!

MoT Masterclass - Gems of Amarone and Valpolicella (Singapore): The first Amarone in this tasting that I liked. Rich, ripe, meaty, savory, ginger bread and dark cherry. licorice. This is really rich and complex, structure and acidity is there to carry the weight.

Matter of Taste, Amarone Masterclass. Deep purple. A big wine but not heavy. Intense flavors of dark fruit, tar. Rich and concentrated. Chewy tannins, slightly sweet. Good balance. Alcohol well integrated, 17% alcohol not obvious on the palate.

Halpern Enterprises Portfolio Tasting (2017): This was way too overdone for me. Especially compared to the standard Valpolicella. Slightly oxidative and very pruney. 17% alcohol really shows. The palate is fat and sweet. Bitter finish and wildly alcohol on the finish. No balance here.
