First look in at this beauty in 4+ years and it does not disappoint. A linear citrus core is rounded out with crisp apple, white peach, tropical fruit, floral honey notes, talcum powder and plenty of slatey minerals. Excellent balance between acidity, fruit and sugar, and while very much a Kabinett, this has good weight on the palate. Drunk over three days and it was fairly open from the get go but fully open after couple of hours in the decanter and then didn’t shift much over three days. Killer stuff.

Pop and pour. Fantastic evolution. Densely fruit, fantastic acidity complements soft sweetness. Paired well with Indian food. Contrasted with a Thomas Haag Niederberg Helden GG.

Pale, youthful color. Finely balanced with lemon candy, grapefruit, stony minerality and floral notes. Elegant with a very long finish. Looks like I’m a little high in my score, but this showed very well tonight.

Prüm makes some of my favourite Riesling wines, even if I tend to prefer their Prädikat wines from Spätlese and up. The 2015 Himmelreich Kabinett is quite ripe, it opens up with tennis balls, petroleum and dried pineapple, but additional notes of peach, lime, lemon juice and mango show up with more air. Lovely balance, classic Prüm elegance.
Straw colored. Starts with a sharp mineralality taste, then transitions into a smooth and sweet aftertaste, that lasts long. One of my favorite Rieslings

Absolutely delicious - petrol on the nose, tropical fruits on the palate, refreshing acid that keeps it from being too sweet or cloying. A real winner.

not getting better, lost lots of acidity and is now too sweet for a Kabinett. Will forget my 2 other ones maybe it will turn around in 5 years but I don't have much hope
Nice citrus and floral notes, with a nice backbone of medium acidity. Reminds me how much I like good Riesling. There is a hollow mid palate which is unfortunate. Hoping with time that will resolve itself. This was better on day 2, so definitely seem some room for improvement.
Wonderful fruit, a fine line between this and acidity. On the sweet side for my palate, would not call it off-dry, but all these things are personal. Stone fruits, almost kirsch-like in places. Very refreshing, a good aperitif wine.
Should you be interested, I’ve uploaded info for this vintage which you can peruse at your leisure. 😉
N: Peaches, some pears, hints of slate, apples, + a relative detected occasional whiffs of camphor
P: Med Body; Rndish entry with swtish frt (*definite* R.S.) firmed by a BALANCING acidity as it transitions into quite a LONG finish with a lemony twist @ the end. Showing NO signs of tiring & has UNDOUBTEDLY improved since our 2/14/18 tasting, though I'll not rate because my palate was overly sensitive to acidity. 😕 As with the previous bottle, I felt it nicely accompanied our Roasted Cornish Hens with a slightly swt Frt/Nut Stuffing. 8.5% ABV; 830 cases produced.

Poured and consumed initially from a Zalto Universal, then moved to a Josephinenhütte No. 2 glass.
Very coiled up at first, with just wisps of petrol, lime peel, and apricot. Opens up a little bit on the nose after about 90 minutes, with some additional pear, green apple skin, and exotic spice notes (turmeric?). Light and playful on the palate, this wine remains youthful but is now starting to shed its baby fat. As in its youth when I first opened one on release, its zesty acidity takes center stage and provides lift to notes of apricot, tangerine, dried apple slices, and garden herbs, which persist on the finish with some white smoke accents.
This kabinett is probably at the tail end of its muted phase, but there is absolutely no rush to try one now. It feels like it has a lot still hiding underneath. Will open my next bottle in 5-8 years.
Bracing acidity which is perfectly balanced by the sweetness. Light in body but layers of citrus and stone fruit flavors. Perfect pair with with some spicy Thai or Indian food.

Young. Takes a long time to open up in the glass. Probably best to decant or otherwise aerate if drinking now. This should continue develop and keep for a further 10-12 years. Top quality Kabinett.
On a warm summer day this offering would be great straight out of the fridge with its low alcohol this would be perfect as an aperitif it's light yet still engages your palette there is just the right level of balance of sweetness to acidity that this could possibly pair well with oriental food. The finish is neither long or complex but this is still fun to drink. Very good value and recommended.
Half bottle. Really enjoyed this after dinner. Crisp with pear flavor throughout, even a hint of peach. Sweet but refined. Highly dependent on food/dessert pairing.

Since 3 years ago this has lost a bit of acidity so the sweetness is now showing much more. I would not serve this if you are looking for a dry Riesling as it has a sweet aftertaste. It seems in a dumb phase but beginning to develop its petrol smell and honey aromas. This will live for ages.
Terrific riesling. Loaded with apricots and light spice, nice florals, excellent cut, and a long and clean finish. So good! Purchased on release; Zalto Universal stems.
Evolving nicely from last check-in 3 years ago. Fleshed out a bit, more generous slate/apple fruit and a hint of petrol on the nose, and in the mouth it is bursting with ripe rich apricot and Fuji apple fruit, a good partner to the slate/acid structure. Some exotic Indian spice note that I can’t quite pinpoint - fenugreek maybe? Expansive in the mid-palate with a vibrant and long finish.
Last had this wine in 2018, but it's still as good as I remember.
Bright energy and acidity with the mildest spritz and lovely hint of sweetness. Not the most expressive at this time, but enough to bring a lot of pleasure. At only 8.5% alc, this bottle was quickly and easily finished between two. Delicious stuff that's always a joy to drink. Despite 'just' 91 points, this stuff is extremely addicting.
Decanted for 25 minutes. Really pale yellow in color. On the nose, green apple, lemon sweet peach and slight minerals. On the palate, a little sweet but not overpowering. the acid will make you pucker and I really like that. Again I got green apple, lemon and some minerals. This bottle didn't last long and im really glad I bought a case of this when it was released.
Prior bottle was 14 months ago and this wine continues to hold up quite well. Nose remains quite similar to prior bottles, especially after being open for a few hours: white/green apple, white peach, lemon and minerals. Medium bodied with initially all apple (mixture of green, evolving into white), but the longer it's open the more noticeable the white peach becomes, especially in the middle. Good mid-body density, but not quite as much as prior bottles. Tart notes (especially lemon) comes in on the back and the acidity this wine still shows is a nice contrast. The acidity is no longer electric, but it retains enough vibrancy to set up a good contrast with the mid-body peach notes. While the wine still has backbone, due to the fruit quality of the vintage it may come off to some as not quite as dry as a typical kabinett. Has the elements to continue to evolve positively and I will almost certainly be picking up a few more bottles.
Beau Riesling de la Moselle avec un degré de buvabilité très élevé, Franchement c'est pure , mineral et droit superbe avec plateau de fromage pour le même prix jai préféré le Kabinett de Prum à celui de Donnhoff

Drinking beautifully now though young and unevolved. In terms of sweetness, very good acidity makes it drink like a legitimate kabinett. Drink now and for the next 10-15 years

[29 16] Tasted next to Spätlese. Reductive notes on the nose, good concentration of fruit, fresh, vibrant, delicate. Medium complexity at this stage, good length. 91-92+
Very, very nice. Surprisingly good for such a young Riesling. Also, surprisingly sweet for a Kabinett, but not overly sweet--just right. No formal notes as this was consumed at a dinner party. But, everyone really liked it. My current score of 91 is relatively conservative, I think. This wine could improve with time, so I will probably not have another bottle for a couple years. Glad that I have a case of these beauties.

Nose of rainwater, sea air, mushrooms, and white alpine flowers, with a hint of petrol. Lovely progression of crisp sweet penetrating cumquat fruit on the palate with a lovely acid backing. Drive, balance, and tension. Delicious with almond tart. 50 + 17+ 18 + 9 = 94.
Delicious. Sorry short note as I had this at the start of the evening and now I’ve had lots of wine! Was really lovely. Green apple freshness with a touch of sweetness but wonderfully balanced. My first bottle of the 12 and hopefully I will leave more insightful notes for the other bottles!

Prior bottle was almost exactly a year ago and this wine continues to show extremely well. Nose remains a mixture of whitefruit (especially apple and peach) and citrus notes (especially lemon and tart orange), mixed with mineral qualities. Medium bodied and the general profile showed nearly identical to the prior bottle: white orchard fruit initially (peach and apple), excellent mid-body density/increased complexity and then spectacular finish with a combination of vibrant acidity and tart, citrus notes. Retains plenty of mineral and floral notes on the backside/finish. What set this wine apart for me (and what I felt justified the higher-than-typical score) were two things: (1) the mid-body concentration, density and complexity and (2) the transition to the finish and the overall fruit/acidity balance. This wine has the tartness and dryer, more citrus-based notes you expect from a kabinett, but it's coupled with more complexity than I typically find at this level, noticeably more depth and better balance. Based on the fruit and acidity, this will last (and improve) for years. As I particularly enjoy the interplay between the fruit and acidity at this stage, I will probably open my next bottle in November 2019 and purchase more immediately.
Yummy! tart apples and lemon. Honey, lyche, pinapple and wet stone on the noe. In the mouth it's lots of stone fruit mixed with pineapple, green apples, leon and honey. Mineral och rain on grey stones. Day one a massive acidity, day two a more harmonic wine, this one will last into the 2030's I'm sure! On the balcony in the autumn sun it's just perfect!

Rosh Hashana dinner at Saul's in Berkeley with family and friends. Better than the version I had last year. Yellow in color with apples and citrus on the nose. Nice acidity in the mouth with flavors of white peach and honeydew. Actually went nicely with my gefilte fish. It appears to just be starting to come around and likely will have a number of years to go.

Picked this bottle to pair with a thai red curry dinner
Color:almost clear, light honey gold Body: appears medium+, in the mouth it's a medium+ with the body of residual sugar Aroma:lots of stone fruit with peaches and apricot, pineapple, a honeyed sweetness with a mineral background Palate: this wine packs a mouthful with a hit of honeyed ginger and lemon on the front of the palate, pineapple, peach, with a 15-20 second finish of cardamom, ginger, and other asian spices.
Delightful on its own, this riesling was an ideal foil to the diverse flavors of a homemade curry.
Very nice wine. No formal notes taken so no rating. Mouth coating and deep, with lots of exotic fruit flavor and acid. Could have used several more years in the cellar.
Delightful nose. Racy minerally citrusy zest. Laser sharp on palate with a great balance between stone fruit and acid. Bright and lively yet so lithe. Coats mid-palate well and leaves a zingy finish. Great terroir, great grapes, great juice.
Ripe nose of ananas, white melon, lychees, exotic fruit, hint of citrus and mineral... Very long and concentrated, super citrus with mineral presence, mineral VERY present in the finish, 20 sec lenght, I love it!! more ripe and exotic than the 2014 which is laser sharp!!
N: Closed; some petrol, but quickly blows off to notes of slate
P: Med body; RNDISH entry with ALMOST swtish frt (threshold R.S. most certainly) BEAUTIFULLY counterbalanced by tart, ALMOST puckerish acidity which pretty much drives the bus through the LONG, TANGY/swt finish with traces of minerality. My VG/VG+ with potential for EXC with further cellaring. Went WELL with Roasted Cornish Game Hens with a slightly sweet fruit/nut stuffing. 830 cases produced.

Opened this two days ago and had a small glass after dinner. Paid more attention today (has been in the refrigerator since opening). Very nice nose with some guava, mixed with lemon and a touch of herbal. On the palate, intense acidity hides the sweetness; very refreshing. A touch thin on the palate, but then a nice stoniness kicks in and the finish is citrus and stone, with a hint of pepper. I wonder how this will evolve.
Tasted over two days, alongside the same vintage Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett. Slightly more reticent bouquet than with the WS, though still quite loud for Kabinett, and featuring citrus, tropical, and stone fruit, with underlying metallic dustiness. Impressive focus and precision, with Graacher Himmelreich metallic dust showing prominently. The middle reveals a stronger acid profile than with the WS, which carries through a lip-smacking back, and long, inflection changing finish. Not as alluring as the WS, and perhaps not quite as concentrated, yet a more complete and rounded wine, and my preference.
What can I say.... this was a super wine. The acidity to sweet ratio was astounding. You can't know if this wine is sweet or sour the mix is laser focus as another taster said already I agree. This is super wine I can drink this all day. Practically colorless with apricot and lemon grass Great vintage
Leatherwood flowers, white peach, a hint of lime, intense minerality on the nose. Deeply charged fruit on the palate with intense acid drive and great focus, a lovely sparkle on the mid palate and delicate aromatics on the long, moving finish. A monumental wine with great emotional appeal.
Tart orange, white peach (almost white cherry) and a mix of citrus qualities on the nose. Close to medium bodied (8.5% ABV) and opened at 44F (which was too cold), warming to 52F and improved all the way. All white fruit upfront (lemon, grapefruit, white peach) adding density through the middle where it starts to open up ever so slightly. Then the impressively electric acidity comes in along with strong lime, lemon and green apple. It doesn't clamp down on the fruit, but rather, kicks it into a higher (if more tart) gear. Finishes with very good length and lingering mineral and floral qualities. Yes, I opened this about 12-18 months too soon, but wanted to see if this wine lived up to its billing while it was still possible to buy more. In a word, the answer is YES. Between the fruit and the acidity, this wine should continue to improve over the next few years. Next bottle in November 2018.
Rien d'autre a dire...Amen

Certainly a nice wine, but I was expecting a bit better from 2015. Pale yellow in color with some citrus and flowers on the nose. On the palate grannysmith apples, grapefruit and lime. Acidity is there with a touch of petrol on the finish. May need some time.

Elegant, clean and precise flavors of key lime, grapefruit, slate, honeycrisp apple, medium bodied with only a flutter of sweetness cut by racy acid, with a finish that veers into light apricot, with a bit of pleasant apricot seed bitterness. Excellent

Very pretty; light on its feet with fresh, delicate Mosel fruit and mineral flavours. It's a touch muted on the nose now and never really opens up that much aromatically, but it's delicious to drink. Still, gives the impression that it's a touch closed and holding something in reserve.

Clear, very pale almost water like. Some effervescence immediately in the glass. Strong scent of candied lemon and lime with some tropical fruits nearing pineapple. Some gunpowder and wet rocks. Fairly light bodied, sweetened lemon and lime. Granny smith apples too. The acid coming on strong to balance the sweetness. Finish was medium plus with the acid leaving me wanting more sweetness, then sweetness wanting more acid. This Riesling delivers and finished the bottle way too quickly. Can't wait to see this evolve.

Tasted with the same Spatlese and Auslese before the Jason Mraz concert with Dave and Andrea and Brittany and Chris. Tart, acidic, Too young. Need more time to balance. Tart lemon, Apple peel. Racy but good. Surprisingly, within a half an hour the fruit died off to zero.

Pale lemon-yellow, initial tiny bubbles on pouring; nose is moderately aromatic with lemon-lime, prominent minerality, stony, still reductive; palate is light bodied, high bracing acidity throughout, fruit seems a bit reticent today, some reduction notable on the palate; medium finish. Overall though the balance is good, this wine seems more shut down than expected today. My last 2 bottles will need to wait 5-10 years. 91 (In comparison to other Prum 2015, this was weaker than the W-S Kabinett and Spatlese). Decanted 2 hours to try to improve the reduction. Nose is a bit fruitier with white peach; palate has a bit less effervescence but still excellent acidity. Overall an even tradeoff, and the wine is still good but not exceptional like I was hoping. There is still a little reduction, so this may need a half decade to a decade of age. Day 2: Reduction is a bit better, showing more white peach and fruit today. Still has much room to develop and still a step down from the other Prum bottlings in 2015.

AP 08 16. The nose on this is incredible! Leaps from the glass and shows not only unmistakable 2015 aromatics but unmistakable Himmelreich. I have to say though the nose is the best part of this bottling at this point. After the light, delineated, and gorgeous Sonnenuhr Kabinett, the Himmelreich seems stony, cold, and inaccessible. A little surprising considering how fresh and spectacular the rest of the line is (both horizontally with its sister Kabinetts, but vertically with the Spatlese and Auslese from this vineyard). A decent Prum Kabinett by any other vintage, but a low point among their 2015 offerings.

Pale lime color. The nose is enticing and lively. Energetic, loads of acidity, and minerality. There is an exciting tension between the sweet fruit flavors and the tart citrus ones. This is really good.

Very nice indeed. Lots of potential rather than a done deal as it's very young and a bit tightly wound. Wasn't until last glass it started to open up. very clear colour, sitrus, stone and distinct smoke on the nose - even slight liqourice or anise character. Very nice balance of flavours on the tast - refreshing acidity. More restrained than Markus Molitors Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Kabinett from same vintage which is more full blast. Fairly sure score will increase over the next 5-10 years.

My first 2015 Prum and it certainly lives up to the hype. Simply electric. A ball of energy. There are really intense citrus tones - pink grapefruit and kumquat - and these are joined by just-underripe pineapple, and strong floral notes. There was a little spritz on the palate initially, which dissipated with a bit of time in the bottle or a vigorous swirl or two in the glass. The real highlight here though is the killer acidity - this GH is just dripping with Mosel minerals - it's fully saturated! The requisit Prum funk is there too but this finishes clean and long. Unfortunately didn't last more than an hour. Would love to have followed it over a couple of days.

JJ Prum - 2015 range tasting: The aromas here are the tightest of the Kabinetts, with some orange peel, lime and slate. The minerality and acidity on the palate is amped up significantly and the palate is electrifying as a result. There is also great texture as well, and while the fruit feels relatively lean in tandem with the other elements, it has obvious quality and potential to be even more impressive with time. Excellent length. This is an exciting wine!

The expressive nose offers notes of lime, bergamot, tangerine, white tea and spring water; there is also an intriguing herbal impression (thyme?). The palate is zingy-fresh with an impressive acid-mineral backbone. Some prickly SO2 on the finish, but not enough to spoil the experience. Bodes well for the future of this wine and the rest of JJ Prüm's 2015 output

Univinum wine fair (EDEKA Ueltzhöfer (Heilbronn/Germany)): This is slightly closing down a bit after the fireworks I've experienced in November. Light, super elegant, herbal Kabinett but with enough flesh to the bone for a long life.
I don't know what else to say except this wine is insane! Bright, balanced, good acidity which shines but doesn't over power. Almosy silver in color and a long finish that seems to last for days. As a long time JJ Prum fan, I will be stocking up on these, no doubt about it. $29

A visit to Joh. Jos. Prum (Weingut Joh. Jos. Prum. - Germany): Wow. Amazing how well these 2015's are drinking young. This was killer especially at 10:30 in the morning at the winery. Silvery gold in color. The nose has fresh pineapple at first. With air a bit of a yeasty note comes out. Also some kumquat. On the palate, this is very fresh. Slightly sweet. Some pineapple and minerals. Not a lot of development right now of course, but so delicious. Long finish.

This bottle was drunk alongside a 2015 Max Ferd Richter eldenzer Elisenberg Kabinett and followed for two days. From the outset, this showed greater complexity than the Richter, with a hint of herb. The Prum was sweeter, with acid that at times seemed as penetrating as that of the Richter, and at other times seemed shy by comparison. Both showed mineral and white fruit. On the second day, the Richter showed more cut and less fading. Clearly, the Prum is the wine with more enticing long term prospects. At this juncture, the simpler Richter may be as much fun for its acidic cut and weightlessness.

A Rieslingfeier of our Own; 2/13/2017-2/18/2017 (Traben-Trarbach, Germany): #29-16, 8.5% abv. This had a brilliant spicy nose, with loads of white fruit and minerality. This is definitely easier to drink now than the WS version of this wine. Extremely expressive, there's a youthful exuberance to this that is just so exciting. I don't think that this has quite the same electric sizzle as the WS does, but it's incredible drinking right now. I did find the sugar on this a little on the higher side, especially once this was followed by the lineup of 2014 Spätlesen.

Classic G-H flavors of yellow apple, dried pineapple, and spice. Great intensity and plenty of fine extract without feeling too much like a Spatlese (although I suspect this is at least Spatlese must-weight). Enough acidity that it presents as more off-dry than sweet. After a few hours of air, it picks up greater slatey minerality. So yeah, this is a pretty awesome kabinett.

Powerful on the palate, there is remarkable acidity and stunning purity of fruit with superb structural tension and a very, very long, laser-like finish that grabs the inside of your mouth and doesn't want to let go. For my taste, this is a perfect Kabinett and the first to make its way into my cellar. Unequivocally, a stunning wine!

This is nearly colorless in the glass, but holy crap does this pack a punch on the nose and palate. This was opened and consumed within an hour, even though I think it could've used some time to open up (opened at the restaurant). Long finish, tremendous acidity and liveliness, I will need to buy more. What a steal in the mid 20 range
Electric. Stone fruit, citrus and herbs on the nose. The palate is dry but intense - lemon peel, orange water, apricot, herbs, minerals, and strong acidity that generates a minute-long finish. Delicious but young now, I can't wait to see where this goes with age.

This was probably the most colorless wine I have ever drank - like glass. Huge aromatics. On the palate, it was more forward than I expected, and not as backwards or with as much pent-up grip and thrust as the 2012. A tic behind the '12 for now, but an excellent wine that will be interesting to follow.

Tasted over two nights, I think this may be the best young Prüm Kabinett that I have ever tasted (note: I have not yet opened the 2015 WS Kabinett). From right out of the gate it was explosive in aromatics, flavors and inner mouth energy. Bright lemon and orange fruit tones, vivid minerality and a long, weightless but persistent finish made this a complete, if young, wine. Buy it and make sure to buy enough that you can have a few now. While this appears poised for a long life, it has some irresistible charms right now.

No reductive notes. Rich white fruits (pear/ apple) with good floral lightness and sneaky acids that sit beneath the sweet and lively fruit. Sunny and bright. Some honeyed tones with a citrusy lime/ lemon hint on the backside. Needs time to thin out and gain some precision. Lack of mineral tones left me scratching my head a bit.
Update: after a few hours of air this is starting to show some warmer orange tones and the acidity is more pronounced. Getting better.
Perfumed, super fruit, not much reduction. Great mouth feel, nice acidity. Not quite as complex as Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett, but still excellent. 91-92+
Loads of white flowers, hint of exotic fruit, yellow straw dried in the sun... Tastes is rich of lychee, ananas, huge citrus in the finish.... great great wine!!
Barrel sample. Quite masked on the nose by reductive notes, not much else. On the palate delicate, fresh, intense with great length. Very promising. 91-92+

Had at dinner with friends,
Distinct Petrol and citrus peels on the nose, lovely notes of slate and honey scented candles,
Showing very little signs of age or decline, everything in perfect balance, very perfectly balanced sweetness to high acidity.

Bright energy and acidity with the mildest spritz and lovely hint of sweetness. Not the most expressive at this time, but enough to bring a lot of pleasure.

Color:almost clear, light honey gold
Body: appears medium+, in the mouth it's a medium+ with the body of residual sugar
Aroma:lots of stone fruit with peaches and apricot, pineapple, a honeyed sweetness with a mineral background
Palate: this wine packs a mouthful with a hit of honeyed ginger and lemon on the front of the palate, pineapple, peach, with a 15-20 second finish of cardamom, ginger, and other asian spices.
Delightful on its own, this riesling was an ideal foil to the diverse flavors of a homemade curry.

Excellent

One of the fine 2015 Vintage wines from the Mosel. Wonderful aromas and flavors of peach and apple with nice acidity and mineral notes on the finish. Early for the wine and should only get better.

Very pretty; light on its feet with fresh, delicate Mosel fruit and mineral flavours. It's a touch muted on the nose now and never really opens up that much aromatically, but it's delicious to drink. Still, gives the impression that it's a touch closed and holding something in reserve.

Loved it. 100% Mosel. Perfect amount of sugar. Wonderful balanced, crisp and zesty with a nice tart finish. A Magnum is an undersized format for this kind of wine.

Very pale yellow. On opening tropical flavors with some spritz. With more air the flavors tuned to citrus with grapefruit notes. Loads of minerality with a good cut. Should age effortlessly for two decades from vintage. 91+
