AW92. 30 minutes in the glass to blow-off and come back to life. Obviously this is a very old, 20+ year aged bottle of RRV chardonnay and judging by the limited recent reviews, I'm not sure that many bottles remain. I do however think this is the magic of acquiring older bottles of Californian chardonnay (this from an auction last year with good provenance).
Absolutely electric yellow and vivid in the glass. It has all the classic aged chardonnay properties you would expect at this point. It is absolutely in a final resting place and a peak position that I would want to drink this. 2003 being a so-so vintage, that was a little challenging.
Sunday night sunshine and always a joy to sip age old RRV - roll on the summer! Cheers!

Golden lemon in color. Mature but didn't seem tired to me. Maybe better cellaring? It does lack some acid. It's thick, supple and heavy but there were still tropical notes of charred pineapple, honeydew melon, and guava. Along with baklava and honeycomb. Finish is of mid-length and fruitful.

This time around, it seems very 1990's California in style. Big, thick, oaky. Score reflects the fact that the 14.9% alcohol wasn't noticeable.
