Surprisingly deep ruby core, large water white rim. The nose is brimming with cigar smoke and cedar. There are undercurrents of green pepper and bramble. On the palate the acidity is well balanced, tannins are soft but present. Very much developed tertiary notes on the palate, smoke, meaty, earthy notes. Drinking well, probably at or just past it’s peak. Drink up soon!

Quite disappointed with this 14-year-old bottle. Heavy notes of green pepper and mouth-coating tannins detracted from the earth and fruit you'd expect from a Bordeaux of this level.

Nice bottle but no more. Surprisingly strong green notes, clearly pronounced green peppers, for a 13-year old Margaux. Didn't take tasting notes so no more details. Going to wait a few more years before I break into the 2000's.

This bottle had everything we love about a bordeaux, a nose of pencil shavings and tart fruits (my wife picked up hints of violet). Concentrated, balanced. Much underrated.
