  • Very dark red color. PNP, split bottle over 4 hours. This started off pretty tertiary, more austere and not showing much in the way of fruit. It still took more than an hour for it to really catch hold and by 2 and 3 hours it was in full form showing the expected perfume. Graphite, wafting aromatic cassis, violets, licorice, leather, medium full boded, incense, round tannins and in end a really nice showing. Despite the supposedly weak vintage, this clearly still has a solid shelf life ahead. 92+ to 93pts.

  • I forgot to open it the night before so it was only breathing for four hours before lunch. Immaculate cork. Still a dark colour with brownish rims. On the nose, thise plant notes of artichoke prevail also with camphor and fruit shoots of dark plums. This time weren't space for violets. Lesser vintage trying to give its best. On the palate it is a wine that has a dense heart, an aqueous texture, enough acidity, short length and a slightly astringent aftertaste. My perception problems of what Lascombes really is continue. Kant’s eternal dilemma about being. I’ve only had a couple of bottles in the last few years and none of them have been extraordinary. Sometimes I hardly recognize theur Margaux seal. Scarce elegance, very loose aromatically speaking. Last chance, a 2005 that remains in my modest cellar. That glorious past will hardly return. Good enough for Spanish fool's Day anyway.

  • Drank this wine at Kam Boat Teochew Restaurant over a wine dinner last night. Theme of the evening: wines that start with the letter M.

Brooding purple in colour. Perfumed nose that lifted spirits and heightened alerts very much raised the expectations of this wine. Very mature at this stage, with the key elements well integrated and rowing in harmony. Wine moved slowed with a good tempo; no hurry when drinking this.

    A gorgeous and gracious wine.

  • A nice, fully mature, full bodied Bdx. Dark fruit, tar, earth. Still has good structure, so I think this has some years left in it. But not going to get any better. Decent complexity with a bit of dried herbs, menthol, roasted meat. Good. Drink now and over the next 3-5 years.

  • Very surprised at how good this is. Was expecting follow fruit and remnants but it’s plush ripe and quite gorgeous and drinking possibly at peak now, builds in the glass after an hour.
