First of three bottles of this vintage from my father's cellar. Took a bit for it to open up and show its stuff. Old wine nose. Well resolved tannins. A bit tart/acidic, but some cherry fruit, cola, showing through. Probably a little past it's peak based on previous reviews, but still very enjoyable juice.

Stood up several months, decanted, tasted over 1 hour, bottle was from auction, cork was intact -heavily bricked, ruddy -pretty, understated elegant nose, some plum and earth, tobacco -med acidity, lively, barest hint of some black fruit remnants but mostly tertiary, tannins melted away, moderately long finish -really quite lovely, exceeded expectations, one of the best 30+ year-old wines we've tasted

Showing the remains of what was probably a very pretty wine in its prime. The nose is certainly Margaux-like, as is the palate, showing nice minerality and even a little decayed, dessicated floral quality, but this is verytired. More an exercise in history than for enjoyment now.

BBQ at Palmero - June 2008 (My house): Brown sludge like color, nose of a mature sherry and nothing else going on. The cork disintegrating upon contact was good indication this wine was done. Did not drink.
