  • Entering tertiary territory with its aromas of teak, leather, truffle and earth. There are echoes of red fruits and there are all sorts of savoury nuances. Tannins are relaxed, acidity still bright. It is in a really nice place and offers drinking pleasure.

  • 3 hour decant. Savoury on the nose, alongside dark flowers, caramel, cherry Bakewell tart, tree sap. Sweet attack, not sugar, just sweet cherry fruit profile. Really savoury on the finish. Becomes richer on the second glass. A caramel cake with cherries. You couldn’t eat a lot of it. The savouriness on the nose has gone. The dichotomy between the now sweet nose and attack and the savoury finish is unreal. So complex. Low to medium low acid, but plenty of tannin and intensity for a medium amount for further ageing.

  • Stood up for a week and decanted for three hours. Bottom neck with a perfect cork. Deep garnet fading to a pale garnet outer edge. A deep, heady, intense black cherry and blackberry infused nose with pine needles, aged balsamic, rusty nails, and a feint medicinal quality providing additional nuances. A burst of ripe black fruit arrives on the attack, there’s impressive mid-palate density with the fruit holding strong, and a more austere, tertiary finish reminiscent of cracked vintage leather. A very pleasurable, mature Brunello.

  • Loads of sweet and sour cherry with leather and earth. Decadent structured and long on the finish. Still fairly vibrant. A 3 star average vintage you wouldn't know trying this one. Excellent wine experience.
