  • Goodbye to an old friend. Last of a case purchased upon release. Medium tawny. Very complex nose- earth, tuscan spice, balsam, leather, roasted herbs and red fruits, lactate notes, tar. Ethereal on the palate with the ghost of tingling Sangiovese acidity and super fine and integrated tannins. A non-reserve Brunello drinking superbly at the 27 year mark. Bravo

  • This is past it's peak by the brick color of the wine. Even though this is an outstanding wine. I can only imagine how good this was when it was in it's prime. Still some tannins and acidity left and the fruit is right there. Nice taste of oak/vanilla and cassis. Medium finish. Drink now.

  • perfect cellared bottle!
at least 5 years of life still ahead if stored properly..which really is shocking for a non riserva brunello..
glad to share this special experience - still very vibrant, zingy..
even fresh, big tannin grip in the beginning that weakens and smooths out with time, (drank over 2h without decanting..)
great incense nose and herby taste: spicy and freaky, honey..resin, tar, earth, black rubber, cherry and leather in marriage, dust, salt, sandal wood, cherry leather, dirt, incense, herbs, funky spices, cigar box..constantly changing in a big burgundy glass..
tannins smooth out during drinking..opens beautifully, overwhelming old school tuscan rosso vine.
then; rose petals I was looking for, dried flowers, leaves, light tobacco leaves, tea..

becomes sweeter in the end, grinded tannins, showing more fruit in the end like orange zest, ripe cherry, honey - elegant wine with a profound black inkish core and dark golden/brown rims, complex, graceful and still pushing/challenging..
