  • Molinari is truly a master! Decanted this for several hours. Had half the bottle....loved it, but decided to put it back in the bottle and away for the next day. The call was spot on, even after several hours of decanting the bottle was a little tight and the next day it went from a 93 to a 95. The wine is a mouthful of candied cherries, figs, forest floor, tobacco, chocolate. The tannins are resolved but amazingly still prevalent and could easily go another 10+ years. Beautiful wine! Perfect corona virus pandemic treat. This is a wine to drink with a full day in mind...slowly and enjoy every last sip.

  • From the list at Maialino, NYC. Decanted, singing from the get-go, and stayed there all evening. In the glass, a lovely auburn at the rim shading to dark auburn at the core. On the nose, plums, candied cherries, smoke, and pine? On the palate, plums, cherries, and strawberries, oak, fennel, and a cedary-pine note in the background. At times the fruit dominated; at other times, the wood notes. At all times, pleasure. Hard to imagine a better companion for pasta and pork. Wish I had some of this in the cellar.

  • Incredibly young and still very intense. Classic Brunello I thought with earthy notes with a touch of VA. Licorice, cherry and graphite with herbs. So good.

  • Amazing material, clearly. From the first sniff to the first sip, this is clearly on a different level. The concentration, length, and power are all outstanding... I don't really care about scores, but my subjective # is that this wine lost 1 point because of its super high acidity. Maybe it was the vintage or the air time (I decanted only 90 minutes...), but this was still kind of tight and young/acidic. Secondary notes were definitely present (sweet tobacco, dried leaves), and the fruit was there, but there's a fair amount of tannin and acidity present, which made it tough to sip on without food. Give it another 3-5 years at least.
Day 2: The acidity/tannins have calmed down dramatically and everything has come into balance. Lots of mature flavors and plenty of fruit, and this could have continued to improve on day 3 if I had to take a guess. really extraordinary. 94+
