  • Among the many Brunellos from the late Diego Molinari I had the pleasure to be drinking this 1994 was special! Given only an „ok-rating“ in its early days this ’94 Sangiovese seem to have developed with time. We were very surprised with it‘s strong and vibrant showing yesterday, very fruity and yes - youthful! I would give the wine even a good 10 to 20 more years in the bottle! Exciting Brunello from an unexciting vintage! (it shows that great winemakers can make good wines in bad years in Montalcino, just like Corte Pavone, who released a 2014 (very difficult harvest) Brunello that matured for 8 (!) years now in Botti Grande just the other day - I bought 3 bottles of the STUNNING wine!)

  • Found in the corner of the cellar..and a disclaimer. I love this maker. a little amber at the edge. A lovely nose, dark strawberries, licorice, some herbs, and lovely floral notes. Really beautiful nose. Sadly the palate did not follow. Mid boded, a touch thin, and albeit some good savory and fruit notes, this was weedy, with what tasted like unripe pips or stems. Clipped on the back end. Still a very good accomplishment for the vintage at this point in time. Nose 92 pts, palate 84 pts. Overall 87 pts.
