  • SEE NOTES FROM REDNECKS & RED RHONES 08
Color of honey comb or pale lemon. Nose of marmalade, petrol, “grapefruit with a waxy component,” says the Colonel. White peaches and apricots and ....and ...some creamed corn. We cannot find any notes suggesting that Semillion is in the mix, but strongly suspect it’s in there. Balanced and elegant with not a hint of the 14.1% alc. Two and a half hours after opening it, it hasn’t moved a bit; just as solid as it ever was. With all of the chevre cheeses and Tomme du Laveron, but best with the Fleur Verte.

  • Last bottle...light gold color and an even nose of minerals and still had that citrus twang accented by grapefruit...but more substance than the last bottle and actually quite nice, but more than ready to drink. Held up quite well with a medium grip and a nice crisp finish.

  • Mmmmm...shouda drunk this up along time ago. Strong gold color...darker than before with a muted nose of citrus and on drinking a loss of acidity and crispness leaving nuances of grapefruit...one left that I don't have a lot of hope for.

  • Eight wines... and a seven course dinner for four.: Our second course of the evening was a baked coquille pie of baby scallops and shrimp, tied together with a reduction of the seafood juices after flash sauteing, and a duxelle of mushroom and cream, topped with puff paste for a nice little package when baked. The wine was light and muted in color, with a grapefruity citrus nose, and while not a strong presance, there was ample acidity and structure to compliment the sweetness of the scallops. A very pleasant surprise of a wine, and an introduction of how nice a quality sauvignon blanc can be to a few of my quests. Third of eight wines.
