Purchased from K&L, ex Calera cellar. Perfect fill, firm cork is saturated 1/3 way up. The cork smells of oxidation so I give the throat of the bottle a wipe with a piece of paper towel.
Medium dark clear brown red. Green olive, leather, plum, soya sauce, dried cherry nose. Great intensity of sweet mature fruit, herb, licorice and bitter licorice on the finish. Silky feeling, with tannin that shows rather dry 30 seconds after swallowing. This is a pristine bottle of beautiful wine.

Pulled from my cellar for a blind tasting with ten friends. Out of six bottles this was the group's clear favorite (including a '99 Grand Cru Burgundy). Medium to full bodied with musty forest floor and mushroom notes. My favorite. Who says American pinots don't age?

Burghound in Asia Grand Tasting (St-Regis Hotel, Singapore): Alcohol :: 14% From Magnum. Sweet dark Pinot fruits, dried fig surrounded by spices, mushroom and earth with hint of alcohol presence too. Sweet but not overly so, in fact, quite seductive. Well balanced, sappy and touch of alcoholic wood spice at the end of the medium, complex finish. Mature and quite delicious. Buy - No.

Dark ruby, good colour to the rim. Somewhat volatile mushroomy nose of ripe red fruits. Lovely, complex and savoury. Cool sweet and very smooth mouth entry. Nicely full without being overwhelming, with good balancing acidity. Firm spiced redcurrant on the finish with a touch of oak. A really good wine. ****
